Asian Inspired Cuisine and a great Pinot Noir

My wife, Judy is a great cook.
Last night we were in the mood for something Asian.
So Judy bought a thick chunk of Yellowfin tuna, some bok choy and Napa cabbage and fresh corn on the cob.
Whoah! Fresh corn on the cob? What's Asian about that?
Well, Judy says, I'm driving home and see a sign that says "just picked today - sweet corn"! So I bought some.
So, the theme dinner was shattered, but everything was so good. And the corn? The best I've had in over 20 years - no kidding.
Oh, I almost forgot about the wine.
We had the 2011 Shane "The Charm" Pinot Noir. This is amazing wine, but I have to admit, it needs a lot more time. I'm sure when we try it tonight it will be much better.
The Charm is available at Balaban's for $43.00.

Balaban's, Tom's First Blog and Amazing Wine!

Feels good to be blogging again. The first of many.

So, after 3 weeks into my new gig at Balaban's, here are some thoughts:

No surprise: the people are great and the food is incredible
No surprise: I'm seeing lots of old customers and friends, and meeting bunches of Balaban's loyalists who I did not know. Hopefully, they too will become friends.
No surprise: I knew we had a library of older vintage wines from some of the world's best producers.
HUGE SURPRISE: I had no idea the library of wines was this amazing. Bryant, Chave, Gaja, Grange, Guigal, Harlan, Insignia, Montelena, Shafer, Solaia - and on and on.
Very cool.

One last thought ....

It's great to be here.
